The Band
The Dicks, while technically one of the numerous bands to move to the Bay Area from Austin, spent the last half plus of their tenure during the ’80s in SF. Their singer, Gary Floyd, was apparently one of but a few openly gay dudes/dudettes in the hardcore scene back then. They had an interesting style - some mixing of blues, easily heard in songs such as “No Nazi’s Friend”. What a great song!

Where Are They Now?
Well, Gary went on to play some psychedelic rock crap and is apparently now in a group named Gary Floyd and the Buddha Brothers. Give ‘em a listen… if you DARE! Couple of the others are playing some crazy sort of bluegrass/country as Shootin’ Pains. YEAH!! This is some cool shit! Check out their song “Voodoo Doll.”
