Especially by voting to call their specific business district something as abhorrent and painstakingly long as “Saigon Business District” instead of “Little Saigon”…! They actually tried to perform a recall and get her out of the San Jose city council! Lucky for her, the recall failed.
The fight over the business district name was only one of the reasons some people in her district wanted Nguyen out, said Andre Charles, a spokesman for the recall effort.
“It’s a misconception that this recall is solely about the naming of the business district,” he said. Nguyen “operates behind closed doors, without public input. It’s accountability we’re looking for.”
Wait, what? Isn’t that how all politicians do business? What’s new…
At any rate, I guess they wound up convincing the city that the name “Little Saigon” would, indeed, bring sexy back.
